Während die Prototypen des für 2023 geplanten F56-Nachfolgers eigentlich noch schwer getarnt unterwegs sind, war ein Exemplar des nächsten MINI offenbar vollkommen ungetarnt auf einem Hof in China abgestellt. Die Fotos auf dem Instagram-Kanal von Wilco Blok zeigen uns nun nicht nur Front, Heck und Dach in voller Pracht, sondern sogar den neuen Innenraum. Ein Fragezeichen steht allerdings noch dahinter, welche Variante des G56 wir hier sehen, denn möglicherweise handelt es sich um die für den chinesischen Markt angepasste und gemeinsam mit Great Wall Motors gebaute Variante, die nicht zwingend in jedem Detail den in Oxford gebauten Varianten für unsere Breiten entsprechen muss.
Hierzu würde der MINI Cooper S-Schriftzug am Heck passen, der in einem gewissen Widerspruch zum Design ohne Hutze in der Motorhaube und ohne sichtbare Endrohre steht. Eine Erklärung hierfür könnte sein, dass beim China-MINI auf das bisher übliche E für den Elektro-Antrieb verzichtet wird, weil der Kleinwagen dort ohnehin ausschließlich als Elektroauto verkauft wird. Die seit Jahrzehnten ikonischen Heckleuchten erhalten laut den Leak-Fotos einen völlig neuen Umriss und verlieren auch ihren integrierten Union Jack, der bei Kunden in China möglicherweise nicht nur positive Assoziationen weckt. In Verbindung mit dem durchgehenden schwarzen Zierelement ergibt sich eine Optik, die ohne das Logo sicher nicht jeden Betrachter auf den ersten Blick an MINI erinnert. Im Vergleich dazu präsentiert sich die Front des neuen MINI G56 als klare Evolution des bisherigen Modells und stellt auch in Europa oder den USA einen hohen Wiedererkennungswert sicher.
Als zeitgemäße und moderne Interpretation des typischen MINI-Designs präsentiert sich der Innenraum des F56-Nachfolgers: Das ursprünglich als Centre Speedo bekannt gewordene Anzeigeinstrument in der Mitte des Armaturenträgers ist im Jahr 2023 ein scheinbar freischwebendes und selbstverständlich kreisrundes Infotainment-Display im Pizza-Format. Hinter dem kompakten Lenkrad ist außerdem ein Head-up-Display mit kleiner Scheibe als Projektionsfläche erkennbar. -

While the size change isn’t dramatic, there are some nuanced changes that will allow the car to shrink while maintaining the same interior volume. In our eyes, the proportions are right. That was our first thought as we started to open up these images. Even the belt-line to wheel ratio seems better judged than the current F56 generation of cars. Key to good proportions is the reduction of overhangs front and back. The new headlights are an evolution of the current design but appear smaller with bisecting horizontal bar that will like form the day time running lights. Expect all electric MINIs to come with LEDs front to back. The rear lights are sure to create debate. They’re still Union Jack derived designs (which is slightly obscured) but have become much more angular. The hatch itself has gotten much wider and likely more usable because of it. The face is clearly an evolution of the current design language but has been further refined and reduced. It would seem that Oliver Hielmer has been true to his word around functionally driven design. There are no faux vents or scoops here on the Cooper S model. 2024 Electric MINI Hatch – A Major Update In Technology & Design If you want an revolution, look inside where MINI has radically rethought the interior. The current design language is gone and replaced with a minimal look and feel that is breathtaking at first glance. The center screen appears to be a single piece of round glass that looks unlike anything we’ve ever seen outside of a MINI concept. Also Gone is the traditional gauge cluster and in its place a heads-up display. Also seen here for the first time is a hint at some of the new materials MINI has been talking about lately. The dash material is intriguing as is the strap to the right of the center display. As part of this new generation MINI is rethinking it’s approach to infotainment and vehicle connectivity. Recently MINI told us that the brand is “working up fresh ideas on the design of urban mobility in the future and the User Experience associated with the use of the display and control system of MINI makes a major contribution to the driving fun so typical of the brand.” Key to this is seamless integration with smartphones outside and inside of the car. Supporting this will be a new version of the MINI App which will morph into a community platform that not only deepens the relationship between driver and car but also connects MINI fans with each other. What that means remains to be seen. -

2023 legt Mini seinen klassischen Dreitürer zum letzten Mal als Verbrenner auf. Der kommt wie immer aus Oxford, dazu gibt es wieder eine Elektrovariante, die erstmals ins China gebaut wird. Zum E-Mini hat die Marke nun ein Bild veröffentlicht, erkennbar am seitlichen "Electric Test Vehicle"-Aufkleber an der Seite. Das Foto zeigt einen komplett getarnten Prototyp. Große Änderungen am Design scheint es nicht zu geben; es ist lediglich erkennbar, dass die Seitenspiegel nicht mehr auf der Tür, sondern unter der A-Säule angebracht sind.
Innenraum des Mini könnte komplett verändert werden
Dafür scheint sich innen mehr zu tun. Es kursieren Bilder, die einen Teil des neuen Innenraums mit großem Widescreen zeigen, wie ihn BMW erstmals beim Elektro-SUV iX gezeigt hat. Die großen Rundinstrumente im Retro-Stil würden dann ausgemustert. Außerdem setzt Mini künftig auf Nachhaltigkeit. Heißt: Leder raus, Strick rein, saubere Antriebe, Premium-Ambiente – und nur so viel Auto wie nötig. -
